We’re just getting started.
During the summer of 2023, we ran our initial pilot program that included two studios and seven students. At 8 weeks long, it was shorter than our current 12 week program, but it still had a huge impact - it helped us prove that this model works for both students and studios.
Our first seven students showed tremendous improvement in their technical, creative, and presentation skills during their time with us; the community approach to learning was a huge success. They learned from each other, as well as from the staff artists and freelancers that they encountered. This gave the students a range of feedback, and a lot of eyes on their work, which can lead to highly beneficial future connections.
Our students are…
Self motivated
Our students take initiative. If they don’t have an existing skill, they learn it. They use the resources around them to their full potential, and find new ways to push their own creativity.
"I loved seeing what other people were creating, and I wanted a way to do that. And now I feel like I have that. I feel like I have a way to express what's been in my head all these years. Now I have a tool to use to get there."
-Antonio Toney
Collaborative
Our students have the opportunity to collaborate with each other, amplifying their unique talents and lifting each other up as they grow.
“Having been through the program, I feel more hungry to pursue animation further and add it to my illustration…I feel like it was a whole new world of things to make.”
-Evan Clark
Determined
Our students see challenges as opportunities for growth. They aren’t afraid to fail, get up, and try again.
“I liked the workflow here more
than my internship because it was formatted in a sense that you had to really be self-motivated, but the resources and the direction were much stronger.”
-Taylor Stanislawski
Curious
Our students are always on the lookout for the next big thing and have an unwavering passion for their craft.
“Besides learning tools and skills, I appreciated the opportunity to work with peers and get feedback from each other.”
-Joy Zou
